On this part 1 of 2, please join @jayferguson.iii and @sloandude as they reminisce and discuss the 7”vinyl singles released on Sloan’s murderecords from 1993-1998. These rare tracks by Eric’s Trip, Hardship Post, The Super Friendz, Local Rabbits, Stinkin’ Rich, Jale, Sloan and more have all just been released as a 28-song digital collection and can be found over at the murderecords bandcamp (link up in the bio too) or at @murderecordshq . Today the murderecords bandcamp page goes live! We're starting with a digital collection of all the 7" vinyl singles that were released from 1993-1998. Featuring 28 rare tracks by Sloan, The Super Friendz, Eric's Trip, Hardship Post, The Local Rabbits, The Inbreds, Zumpano, Stinkin' Rich, Jale, and the Certain Someones (Chris Murphy, Matt Murphy and Jennifer Pierce one off super-group recording from the 1990's). Ahoy! It seems we’ll be landlubbers for a while longer, so our 2020 tour dates have been rescheduled until 2021. See list of dates below or visit sloanmusic.com for full details. Tickets already purchased will be honoured for the new dates, and if you just can’t make it, please contact your local promoter or where you purchased tickets for any refund info. Oshawa and Miramichi are still being sorted as the venues have closed. We’ll let you know in the future if and when those happen. Thanks, be kind and take care of yourselves. Asked about the inspiration for this song, Chris Murphy said "I wanted to write a song about the importance of listening - whether to experts or the disenfranchised."

"It’s a song about people who won’t listen and won’t shut up, who are vain and can’t handle criticism, who talk about things for which they aren’t qualified and make promises they can’t keep."

As we are facing such profound global challenges including drastic climate change and racial injustice, it is imperative to remember that sometimes it is important to leave space for those with lived experience and studied expertise to take the floor.
